Water Labyrinth
It was with great excitement that Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi unveiled the Water Labyrinth in Forrest Place on Friday 16 November 2012.
Water Labyrinth is an interactive water sculpture created exclusively for Forrest Place by internationally renowned artist Jeppe Hein.
It is the first permanent Jeppe Hein artwork in Australia and will run daily from 8am to 8pm unless Forrest Place is being used for events.
Water Labyrinth is jets of water that shoot into the air creating nine rooms that disappear as quickly as they emerge. The sculpture uses storm water harvested and recycled from Forrest Place. The water is chlorinated to swimming pool standards and tested daily.
The idea for the artwork came from a temporary installation of Appearing Rooms outside PICA that proved widely popular and was part of the 2010 Perth International Arts Festival.
The Water Labyrinth will not be running on:
- Sunday 26 May 2013 from 8am until 12noon (HBF Run for a Reason)
- Tuesday 4 June - Sunday 16 June 2013 (work on the Water Labyrinth)
