I'm very excited to be able to share our brand new campaign, on-air from today.
SHINE BRIGHT IN THE CITY OF LIGHT
It’s an invitation for people to celebrate what they love about their capital city as we encourage everyone to Shine Bright in the City of Light.
Naturally, the star of the campaign is our City, as it should be.
There is an obvious nod to Perth’s growing arts and culture scene along with the fresh and vibrant energy younger population bring to our City.
The song Westside by The Moving Stills is upbeat, captures the mood of the City, and evokes a sense of fun and adventure.
The campaign captures the essence of Perth, our City of Light, and is something we can all celebrate together.
Perth’s post-COVID fightback has lead the nation, our visitor, spend and office occupancy numbers are the best in the country and now we springboard.

A FAIR DEAL FOR OUR RATEPAYERS
On Tuesday night, the Council voted to reject the State Government’s current offer regarding the new inner city primary school on Nelson Crescent in East Perth.
The State Government was offering us $0 for two blocks of land that we, and they, valued at $40 million.
The City of Perth supports the development of a primary school in East Perth and we want to be delivery partners, but as I always said, the deal has to stack up for our ratepayers.
We want a fair offer from the State Government. And at the moment that offer is $0 for a $40M block of land and no land swap.
That is a poor deal for the ratepayers of the City of Perth, and it is my job to fight for the best deal for ratepayers.
I have called on the Premier to do the right thing by the ratepayers of the City of Perth and make us a fair offer.

EVERY CITY OF PERTH PARKING BAY FREE AFTER 6PM
I was pleased that Council voted to extend free night time parking in our City and every bay in the City of Perth will continue to remain free after 6pm.
It is important to our business owners and operators and our visitors love it.
It has been part of the reason for the City’s resurgence and gives us tremendous goodwill at a time when we are competing with suburban shopping centres.
Connected to this, new modern, sustainable and easy to use parking meters are being rolled out across the City, complementing the successful rollout of the Easypark payment app and making it easier than ever to park and enjoy your City.
There has been a small increase in day time parking fees, in line with the recommendations of our administration, to offset increased costs of running our parking services. This is only our second increase in the past five years.
